Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE)
The Sainik School Entrance Examination (AISSEE) is a national-level test conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Sainik Schools Society. It aims to select deserving students for admission into Class 6 and Class 9 in Sainik Schools across India. These schools are established to prepare young boys and girls for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and other defence institutions.
The exam is open to Indian students aged 10–12 years for Class 6 and 13–15 years for Class 9 as of March 31 of the admission year. Candidates must meet the age and educational qualifications prescribed for the respective classes. The examination is conducted offline (pen and paper mode) and uses multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
For Class 6, the test covers subjects such as Mathematics, General Knowledge, Language, and Intelligence. For Class 9, the subjects include Mathematics, Science, English, and Social Studies. The paper is designed to test not only academic knowledge but also reasoning ability and general awareness.
After the written test, shortlisted candidates undergo a medical examination to ensure fitness for admission. Final selection is based on the combined merit of the written and medical exams.
